knowledge of what is old compared with novelty and what are parts in
relation to wholeness.
5.1.2 Anthroposociomorphismb
Like scientism, anthroposociomorphism believes in complete
deducibility as a means of explanation and prediction. The difference is
merely the culturalistic viewpoint, the synthetic bias, and the projective
attitude when essence comes into sight (Table 5.1, line 2).
Culturalism. In contradistinction to naturalism, the premises that are
sought for explanation or used for prediction refer to the social, human
and societal – socio-economic, socio-political, socio-cultural – domain.
Social causes are addressed in the explanans. The explanandum might
cover social (individual, societal) phenomena or natural ones. In the
latter case it becomes clear why the term “anthroposociomorphism” is
used: natural phenomena are explained (predicted) in the way social ones
are explained (predicted).
Synthesis. In order to arrive by deductive reasoning at the desired
conclusion, concrete features of the phenomenon in question are
collected and added to the essence (clearly a kind of inductive procedure
during the course of explanation). This involves a projection of the
unique onto the universal. Once the knowledge of the concrete is
contained by the knowledge of the explanans, the knowledge of the
explanandum can be derived.
Phenomena overdetermination. In naturalism, phenomena tend to
be underdetermined by the abstract essence and become abstract as well.
In anthroposociomorphism the opposite is the case. Phenomena tend to
be overdetermined by an essence that contains the concrete.
